ABOUT ME
Working both in house and independently I have co-created countless books across a diverse range of subject areas – military history, ecology, natural history, culture and civilizations, religion and faith.
I have commissioned and project managed tie-in books for clients such as BT, Channel 4, Turner Broadcasting and Time Life Books; prepared multi-author illustrated reference coeditions for leading university presses, including Oxford University Press and Chicago University Press; and had the privilege of producing books in collaboration with some of the world’s most prestigious museums, institutions and foundations, including the National Maritime Museum, the Smithsonian Institution, the Wellcome Collection and the Wallenberg Foundations.
My recent commissions have been an eclectic mix of books and business-related reports. These have covered some really diverse terrain: from corporate logos, vocal training exercises, political history and mountaineering projects to entertainment media data monitoring, press standards and workplace discrimination. All in more than a day or two’s work!
As well as managing or editing projects, I have written or contributed to more than half a dozen books over the years.
I can match practical, hands-on experience and a commitment to high editorial values with an appreciation of how to enhance the appeal of information in a variety of printed forms, from the simple to the complex.
The Projects Portfolio shows a limited selection of my work. Please get in touch to discuss any potential projects, however small.

“Chris served as Managing Editor for the Treasures of the Andes project and was in close communication with me throughout the writing and in the final stages of editing, image selection, layout, and final publication. Throughout, I found him to be open and generous and highly supportive. Although we have never met face-to-face, I esteem Chris as a very fine colleague who helped me to produce a beautiful and successful book. I would be most pleased to work with him on any future project and I recommend him as a person and an editor with my highest regard.”
“Chris is one of the best copy editors I’ve worked with, and I’ve worked with many. He is precise, thoughtful and understands both the writer’s subject and voice, and the best way to amplify both. All-around winning characteristics.”

“The advances of Metropolis have just come in and I wanted to thank you for all the hard work you put in on it – and at very short notice. I’m very grateful to you, and I’m in no doubt that the work you did improved the book immeasurably. It should be a cornerstone title for years to come.”
“I’ve worked with Chris over three iterations of the Global Entertainment and Media Outlook, an enormous and prestigious project featuring more than 300,000 words of analysis on 54 countries across 17 media segments. His diligence and attention to detail are superb, and he has proved able to maintain these standards while also meeting the project’s very challenging deadlines. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him.”
